ABOUT US

We are 241!

Sustainable development for the inclusion of migrating and refugee populations can only be attained if women are involved, as mothers, as teachers, as entrepreneurs and/or when a gender sensitive policy environment is created for them to influence community and social policies at the higher level.

Women are the primary victims of the intertwined causes of conflicts, underdevelopment and migration. To address these issues, in a sustainable and humanitarian way, migrants should be offered assistance in building a new life in the respective host countries by developing, testing and implement new concepts of train the trainer programs for online training offering migrant women the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills. That is the aim of 241!

IO 1 Online Course For Migrant Women

Our course is based upon the learning needs from migrant women in Italy, Spain and Greece. Also the experiences and comments from Dutch migrant women from the last years have to be taken into account. After taking the course the migrant has to meet all (legal, financial and PR) requirements. The aim is to offer migrant women the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills and to enable them to start their own business. Simultaneously the course enables a friend, relative or partner in the land of origin to participate as well and to learn learn together. The methodology is based on the principles of balance, autonomy and inclusiveness. The courses are developed by women and from a women’s perspective (gender lens)and contribute to gender equity.

IO 2 Learning Network Infrastructure

In each country a learning environment network needs to be further activated or otherwise created. Which organizations can give support to a learning environment where migrant women can work on their online course? The women need to receive input from workplaces, chambers of commerce, banks, labour agencies, tax authorities and business consultancy. And which organization can stimulate refugee women to start the online course? What opportunities can be offered by asylum seeker centers, refugee reception organizations, (re)migration services and self-organizations of migrants and refugees? A learning environment infrastructure is necessary to enable the women to take part in the
online course.

IO 3 Handbook For Trainers - Coaches

Refugee women who participate in the online course will be supervised by a trainer-coach. The handbook for trainer-coaches will describe the profile of a trainer-coach and explain
different ways (interaction online, coaching by email or whatsapp/messenger, additional face-to-face meetings) of coaching and supporting refugee women who are participating in the course. Extra attention will be paid to involve the second learner from the home country. Special attention will also be paid to how the trainer-coach can improve her understanding of the situation of refugees and migrants and be familiar with problems which they encounter in general and particularly in their competence development. The handbook will give the trainer-coaches guidelines and practical tips.

IO 4 Train The Trainer Course

National train the trainer courses will be necessary to have qualified educators who can support the refugee women when they are participating in the online courses. This train the trainer programme will be based upon the handbook (IO3) and the experiences with the LTTA and can be realized by trainers who have participated in this transitional train the trainer activity.
